What is Low Speed Pre-Ignition (LSPI)?
LSPI occurs when there is a premature ignition of the main fuel charge, leading to a variety of unwanted symptoms such as high-pressure spikes, loud noise, power loss, increased fuel consumption and potentially irreversible damage to the engine. Modern Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) engine designs are prone to LSPI, therefore requiring greater lubricant performance.
Tested to Perform
Phillips 66® developed and tested both the CK-4 and FA-4 oils for several years. The formulations went through industry-standard bench tests as well as engine test stands. The proof of performance came from field tests on more than 310 trucks collectively accumulating over 67,000,000 miles. All of this is done to ensure the oils meet and exceed current standards.
